The Unity Library-Bookstall Team is a shared ministry team of volunteers with the help of staff liaison, Laura Park. The team is self-supporting with in-kind support from Unity staff, and is responsible for the operation of the Unity Bookstall and the Anderson Library, and the annual spring coffeehouse, Café Unity. For more information or to volunteer, contact the team at library @unityunitarian.org.

Becoming the twin cities by drew m. ross
Becoming the Twin Cities Book Launch
Wednesday, December 10
7:10 p.m. | Parish Hall & Zoom

Join Unity Church member Drew Ross for the launch of his new book, Becoming the Twin Cities: Swindles, Schemes and Enduring Rivalries, published by the Minnesota Historical Society Press. In this engaging and deeply researched book, Drew tells the story of how first geography, but soon politics, commerce, confident men and outright crooks kept St Paul and Minneapolis separate cities, not one great city on the Upper Mississippi, that contemporaries thought inevitable.

Peace cycle with a green arrow with dashed lline
New in The Bookstall:
PeaceCYCLE Tote Bags from Haiti

Clean water is scarce in Haiti, and many in Port au Prince purchase small bags of purified water every day, for about four cents each, resulting in thousands of bags ending up as litter. PeaceCYCLE is a small company whose all-Haitian group of employees gather the bags, clean, cut, and iron them together to create a new kind of fabric, and then sew them into super-strong bags. Your purchase benefits Unity’s Library and Bookstall, and also helps keep Haitians employed during one of the most violent and anarchic times in the history of our neighbor country.

Anderson Library
  • The Anderson Library is on the second floor of the Eliot Wing.
  • The Unity Library catalog is online at Library Thing. Search the catalog from any computer or find the online catalog in the Anderson Library.
  • The Library is open Sundays after each service, and may be used anytime that a meeting is not in progress. Check-out is self-service; please refer to the instructions on the checkout desk. Volunteers are available to help on Sunday mornings.
  • The loan period is three weeks.
  • The Historical Collection is available for library use only, or to checkout by special request. Ask a library volunteer for help using materials from this collection.
  • To request a book for the libraries, leave a note in the book return or in the Library Team mailbox in the Unity copy room; Or contact the team by email at [email protected]. We honor as many book requests as budget and appropriateness for the collection allows.
  • Gifts: Due to limited space in the Anderson Library, gifts of books less than two-years old and books related to Unitarian Universalism are appreciated. Other gifts will be evaluated for use in the library, and if not added to the collection, will be donated to a non-profit organization.

The Bookstall
The Bookstall is conveniently located in the Parish Hall, and is open Sundays after each service, as well as other times by request. Here you may purchase a wide variety of books for adults and children on the worship themes, spirituality, topics of interest to community outreach teams, Unity Choir and other selected music CDs and DVDs, books by Unity authors, and those recommended by the ministers. You may order or request a title.  The Bookstall accepts cash, check, and credit card. A volunteer will be available during Bookstall hours to help with your purchase. The proceeds from each purchase you make at The Bookstall go to fund Unity Library materials and programs. We greatly appreciate your support. Thank you.

Café Unity Poetry and Music Salon
Café Unity is an annual coffeehouse, typically held in the spring. With emphasis on original work, we feature the talent of the congregation and staff of Unity Church. If you are interested in reading or performing your original work, please contact the team by email at library @unityunitarian.org.

Whitman Children's Library
The Whitman Children's Library is located on the lower level in the dual purpose Story Room-Library, and is the responsibility of Religious Education; volunteers are needed.
