Directions to Unity Church
If you are heading toward Saint Paul on I-35E from the north or on I-35W, find the best route to I-94 and follow the directions for I-94 below. If you are coming from the area around South Saint Paul or West Saint Paul, take US-52 north across the river to westbound I-94 and follow the directions I-94 below. From I-94 (from the east or west) or I-35E (from the north) Head to I-94 between downtown Saint Paul and downtown Minneapolis. Take I-94 to the Dale Street exit and head south. Turn right on Summit Avenue, which is the third set of stoplights after those on the highway’s frontage roads. Turn right onto Grotto Street, which is two blocks ahead. The church is one block ahead on the corner of Grotto and Portland. From I-35E (from the south) Take the Grand Avenue exit from I-35E and turn left at the stoplights at the top of the ramp. Cross over the highway and go up the big hill in front of you. (The hill is named Ramsey Street, but there are no obvious signs. Grand Avenue will curve off to the left.) At the top of the hill, turn left onto Summit Avenue. Drive down Summit Avenue, past the stoplights at Dale Street. Two blocks after Dale Street turn right onto Grotto Street. The church is one block ahead on the corner of Grotto and Portland. |
Parking
Unity Church maintains an off-street parking lot one block east and one block south of the church on the corner of Saint Albans and Portland Avenue. On Sundays, the parking lot north of Obama Elementary School is also available. Accessible parking in available in the lot immediately east of the church on Holly Avenue.
The City of St Paul’s parking rules say that “Parking is prohibited within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection.” If you park too close to the corner, you may get a ticket!
Please DO NOT park in the River of Life parking lot located on the southeast corner of Portland and Grotto.
Winter Parking
Unity Church has a commitment to accessibility which includes parking near the church for members and friends who have mobility issues. Therefore, each Sunday, the entire parking lot located directly east of the church is now reserved for handicapped parking, assisted parking, and electric vehicle charging. While the entire lot is restricted parking on Sundays only, please continue to observe and respect posted parking signs during the week.
In the event St. Paul declares a Snow Emergency on a Sunday, we will send a congregational email and post signs reminding you of where you can and cannot park. We encourage you to park in our lot at Portland and St. Albans, or behind Obama School so that you won’t be ticketed and so the streets can be cleared.

Public Transportation
Unity Church is easily accessible by public transportation. Route 63 along Grand Avenue, Route 65 on Dale Street, and Route 21 along Selby are all within walking distance and connect conveniently to light rail transit on the Green Line (University Avenue). Biking
