Racial Justice

MISSION
Justice can be defined as love made public.

​We focus on how to dismantle white dominant culture by expanding our individual and congregational capacity to center relationship and love as foundational to our work in the world. We see this as the first step before engaging in the sometimes challenging work required to achieve racial justice. The Racial Justice Ministry Team brings the double helix to life, integrating spiritual and antiracism practices within, among, and beyond us to step into courageous action.

PURPOSE
The Racial Justice Ministry Team will:

1. Create opportunities for people to deepen awareness and understanding of the dominant culture’s systems of white supremacy and oppression (within, among, and beyond us) and take action to dismantle them.
2. Be a voice and advocate for antiracism, multiculturalism, and economic justice, which are deeply ingrained in our Unitarian Universalist faith.
3. Take action and commit to racial justice in the wider community.

The Circle of Peace Movement

The Circle of Peace Movement, a community partner of Unity's Racial Justice Community Outreach Ministry Team, is a pathway to racial healing and peaceful communities. It works by creating a safe space where people come together on a regular basis to share a meal and engage in respectful conversation. Through circle, we come to understand and care for one another, and find hope and strength to transform our communities.
