Since its inclusion among Unity's Ends, our commitment to “create a multicultural spiritual home based on authentic relationship” has occasioned new conversations and connections among us, expanding the range of our imagined life together. To no surprise, emerging conversations and initiatives brought into relief both the promise and the challenge of becoming a multicultural congregation. What are the levers of change? Importantly, we invited Team Dynamics — a strategy firm dedicated to such transformational work — to partner with Unity where this work is anchored in the Beloved Community Staff Team. From observing Unity’s culture and clarifying next steps in this unfolding work, intercultural competence featured prominently in marked areas of congregational life, including worship, education, welcome and outreach, and communications.
You are receiving this invitation as someone who has participated in one or more of these areas focal to advancing multiculturalism at Unity. As we further the utility of the Intercultural Developmental Model for building intercultural capacity, the overriding priority of this training session is to equip us with concrete actionable practices and plans toward advancing multiculturalism in our ministry areas. The program staff and I so look forward to sharing with you at the confluence of this sacred work.
