Intercultural Competence Workshop
As part of our long-term commitment to becoming a more inclusive, multicultural, and anti-racist congregation, Unity Church will be holding a day-long intercultural competence workshop. The workshop will be held on Saturday, September 9, beginning at 9:00 a..m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. Lunch will be included. Our presenter will be Phyllis Braxton. Phyllis, one of the premier facilitators in the field, says of herself: "I am a native of Moss Point, Mississippi, and have been in Minnesota for the past thirteen years. I decided to become a community builder so that my daughter will not encounter the same challenges of marginality I experienced as a child and still experience today." Phyllis has worked with the Unity Church Board of Trustees and many Unitarian Universalist congregations and leadership groups.
We are asking each participant to pay a registration fee of $35.00. This will cover the cost of an online inventory we hope each of you will take before the workshop, as well as lunch. If you have already taken the inventory (Intercultural Development Inventory, IDI), the cost for registration is $15.00. The church will be providing funding for the workshop itself out of our anti-racism budget. REGISTER ONLINE TODAY!
Scholarship assistance is available. If you are in need of a scholarship, please click here to register for the workshop.
Childcare will be available with one week advanced request to Audrey Hommeyer at email@example.com.
