Getting Connected at Unity
Young adults are involved in activities throughout the church! Here are some of the many ways you might deepen your connection with Unity Church...
Worship Worship services are held on Sundays at 10am during the summer months of June, July and August. Summer services feature the creative and ispirational efforts of our lay leadership! From September through May services are held at 9 and 11am and at 4:30pm. We encouarge you to attend a service that fits in your schedule, or even try attending at different times to find the one that works best for you! The 11am service begins with children joining worship in the sanctuary before heading off to religious education classes (giving that service a lively feeling), and the 4:30pm service sometimes has a more intimate feel.
Community Outreach and Social Justice Many people at Unity church find opportunities to live out their values in the world by engaging in social justice activities. There are several social justice ministry teams that address various issues, including an Anti-Racism Leadership Team, affordable housing, sustainable agriculture, resorative justice, and quilting and foodshelves. In addition, we have teams that form deep connections with the Center for Victims of Torture, Mano a Mano (a nonprofit committed to getting medical resources to areas of Bolivia), and our partner church in Transylvania (one spiritual origin of Unitarianism).
Wellspring Wednesday Dinners, Worship and Adult RE There are abundant adult programs held after dinner and an intergenerational worship on Wednesday evenings. NOTE: Wellspring Wednesday is only held from September to May! The delicious dinner cooked by church volunteers is held at 6pm although you are welcome to bring your own meal--or come to church after dinner. Following dinner is a brief worship in the sanctuary, and then people split off into various parts of the church for classes, discussions and workshops.
Music Ministries Music is a vital part of the worship experience at Unity church. If you have talents and would like to get involved please contact our Director of Music Ministries, Ruth Palmer. To learn more click here.
Covenant Groups With such a large congregation it is sometimes helpful to participate in small group ministry like Covenant groups. Covenant groups are small relational groups made up of 6-12 people who meet at least monthly to establish and nurture themselves in their own beloved community and engage in deep conversation with one another, including significant theological discussion. We hold young adult covenant group meetings that are open to all young adults (even newcomers!) on the fourth Sunday of the month after the 4:30 p.m. worship in the Center Room. However, if you would like to join an intergenerational covenant group click here for more information, or contact Justin Schroeder in the church office.
Teaching Children and Youth in Religious Education Our child and youth programs are a fun and vivacious part of church life! There are opportunities to volunteer with child care with the littlest ones, "Spirit Play" (preschool), and specific subject areas in the elementary-aged kids' wokshop rotation (story, art, science, drama, music and kinesthetic). The older kids (grades 6-9) especially love young adult energy. Contact Kerri Meyer for more information.
Special Events There are special events happening at Unity all the time, including guest speakers, workshops, community forums, concerts, and so on. Most events are published on our main home page, which you can find here.
