Summer Sundays for Kids |
At our 11:00 and 4:30 services, we offer religious education classes for 6th, 7th and 8th graders during the worship service. Each ‘semester’ we explore a new topic in depth; the content is related to our own religious heritage, our developing personal theology or the traditions and wisdom of world religions. Youth can select between two concurrent offerings, based on their interest, past experience or classroom friendships. The structure of each lesson includes a reflective meditation, some energizing fun and some participatory learning about ourselves and the human experience. Course ‘semesters’ start in September and January. Contact the Director of Religious Education at ext. 104 for more information.
A musical option for youth is also available at the 11:00 service. The Youth Music Ensemble will meet during the 11:00 worship. This group will select, rehearse and share choral and instrumental music with the congregation during worship services. Youth need only commit for one semester at a time. This is a great opportunity for creative youth to include music and fellowship in their spiritual lives. Contact the Director of Music (x118) for more information.
Junior High youth whose families come at 9:00 are encouraged to attend the worship, help teach R.E. classes, work in the Nursery, join a Welcome Team or form a discussion group.
*Sixth graders who are not yet ready for or interested in these religious traditions curricula are welcome to participate in Workshop Rotation at any of the three services.*
