Origins of Camp Fire The first meetings of Camp Fire were nearly 100 years ago in 1910 in the state of Vermont. The word “camp fire” was chosen because campfires were the origins of the first communities. The symbol for Camp Fire is the flame to symbolize fire as the center of the hearth or community. Camp Fire Laws include: seeking beauty, giving service, pursing knowledge, being trustworthy, and being happy. At Camp Fire Unity we will seek to uphold those law, and we will do this with a focus on nature and community service.
Camp Fire Unity Camp Fire Unity seeks to build a strong community of boys and girls, ages 6 to 12 years old, through community service and nature. Camp Fire Unity is parent led and parents are required to volunteer with one or two meetings per calendar year. Camp Fire Unity meets 1-2 times per month, either on Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. or Saturday (see our Fall/Winter/Spring 2010-2011 schedule below). The location of meetings will vary depending upon the activity. Camp Fire Unity registration will be held on September 19th between the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services. Camp Fire dues are $20 per child and will be collected in September and January. Upon registration, each child will receive a Camp Fire Unity t-shirt, which can be worn during meetings and field trips. Some field trips may require an additional nominal fee.
